At
the top of the most ludicrous
beliefs that we entertain certainly ranks the conviction that human
beings are rational creatures. Hardly ever we do what we think we
need and want to do, almost always our unconscious is in charge. So
how come we won't acknowledge it? Well, we are not made to face
reality, we prefer illusions.
Why
did you do this? What did you think? The honest answer would be: No
idea, really, for we do not know why we do what we do, and we do not
know why we think what we think. Moreover, it might be questionable
that we think at all. As far as I'm concerned: Thinking (or what we
call thinking) seems to happen without me having an essential part in
it. To say that something seems to think inside my head would be clearly more
appropriate, at least in my case.
