On reality

What we call reality is very probably the biggest delusion there is.

The call to get real means to accept the folly that we've created. Consider this: Given that we are totally lost in the universe (we do not know where we come from, have no idea what to do here, are at a complete loss as to what awaits us once we'll perish), what we are craving most is something to hold on to –  certainty, stability and order,  that is.

The mass media now tell us that the whole world is looking forward to January 20, when the new American president, the ultimate embodiment of chaos and confusion, will be sworn in. Well, I do not. Also, I do consider all who wonder what this moron is coming up with irrational at best. That it is presented to the world as rational, is bonkers. Fact ist: What is real is not decided by any majority.

Sadly, the majority-version is the kind of reality we are living in; it is a reality that man has created. Nothing could be further from how things really are – for the universe couldn't care less what we think of it. Also, it does not depend on us, we depend on the universe.

"Our human resources, as marshalled by the will, were not sufficient, they failed utterly." (Alcoholics Anonymous). To rely on our thinking is foolish for it can trick us into believing pretty much anything – from not wanting to shake a woman's hand to voting corrupt and highly incompetent men and women into office. We would be well advised to keep in mind Philip K. Dick's insight: "Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."
