The Right Road

There is only one way to get full satisfaction from life and that is to live you believe God wants you to live. Live with God in that secret place of the spirit and you will have a feeling of being on the right road.

Telling One's Own Story

Wilson told hopelessness rather than preached conversion, and he told by using his own story, his own experience, the literal facts of his own life, rather than by offering abstract theory or even scientific facts.

The Spirituality of Imperfection

Spirituality has to do with the reality of the here and now, with living humanly as one is, with the very real, very agonizing, „passions of the soul.“ Spirituality involves learning how to live with imperfection.

On Doing

A wrongdoer is often a man that has left something undone, not always he that has done something.

The right way

You seem to take out of life about what you put into it. If you disobey the laws of nature, the chances are that you will be unhealthy. If you disobey the spiritual and moral laws, the chances are that you will be unhappy. By following the laws of nature and the spiritual laws of honesty, purity, unselfishness, and love, you can expect to be reasonably healthy and happy.

Gestern Nacht & Heute Morgen

Life experience versus expertise

Psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers are nowadays seen as experts in the field of drug treatment. And that is precisely why drug treatment mostly fails. The fact that sometimes it doesn't has rarely to do with the expertise of the experts, it has to do with a variety of factors beyond their influence: it might be because the sun is shining, it might be because it is raining, it might be because the addict is simply ready.

So why then is drug treatment in the hands of these experts? Because it gives them a job, and an income. And since what they do is not effective, their job comes with an excellent job guarantee.

What would then be effective? First of all, to see addiction as what it is: an unwillingness to deal with life on life's terms. And how does one become willing? By connecting with people who've suffered from the same problem, and who've managed to cope with the reality in front of them.

Differently put: what matters in drug treatment is reflected upon life experience and not expertise.

Angst & Freiheit
